Why Are We Now Hating and Not Helping Ted Williams? “The Man With Golden Voice”
Ted Williams: The Man With the Golden Voice
This has nothing to do with real estate, no SEO tactics or keyword research. This is me asking America why are we mad at Ted Williams, the man with the Golden Voice?
I was surfing the internet the other day and came across the story of Ted Williams checking himself out of rehab after only a week.
Now that was surprising because he seemed so devoted to getting clean, but at the same time, I knew how most people with addiction seem to rebel against help.
What I was more surprised by was all the negative comments from US. The people on the outside looking in.
After becoming successful and famous via the internet in a week, I guess everybody felt they knew him because his whole personal life was all over TV.
From all his accomplishments to his family problems but that’s what fame does. Gets you in and exploits you to the world so if your not on your P’s and Q’s, it’ll chew you up and spit you out.
Could you imagine going from being homeless and just doing what you want to do to all of a sudden having the whole world watching your every move? Basically the weight of the world on your shoulders in the span of a week or two. I don’t even think I could handle that.
What really got me angry was reading what all these people who have NO IDEA what it’s like to deal with an addiction, give their overly biased perspectives on the situation.
The reason it touched me so much was because my father was an alcoholic. He drank himself to sleep some nights and it hurt me to my heart that I would cry sometimes for the Lord to heal him from this disease.
It took my dad more than 20 years to stop drinking and that’s when he finally opened up to me and told me the internal struggle of dealing with an addiction.
How addictions are just demons sitting and waiting for you to give them a chance to get back in and when they can’t get back in, other demons take their spots.
You can say that’s a little far fetched but that’s straight from the horses mouth; plus they always said you replace one bad habit with another.
Ted Williams isn’t doing this because he wants to. He’s doing this because he’s sick. He’s not going to open up about his sickness because part of an addiction is denial. That’s why he said to Dr. Phil (is he a real doc) that he was clean. The denial is greatly magnified when they have the spotlight on them.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
-Psalm 147:3″
I prayed for Ted Williams the moment I saw him on the internet for the first time. I kind of felt bad for him after a week or so, but everything happens for a reason so I continue to pray for him everyday and night.
The good that came from the situation is he did reunite with his mother which is a blessing in its own.
Let not make blog posts about how he failed, how we knew he would go back to being a bomb or once a bomb, always a bomb. Let’s get him some real help. I challenge you to say a prayer for Ted Williams everyday.
I’ll even get you started. Read along with me.
Our Father who are in heaven. I come to you asking you to put your hands on Ted Williams and guide and protect him. I ask you to heal him from his sickness. Take that disease from him Lord and guide him in the way which he should walk. I ask you to bring him and his family back together peacefully and to protect him from the curse of fame and fortune. I thank you, and ask these things in Jesus holy and righteous name, Amen
Please my friend, keep Ted Williams in your prayers because he is trapped. Sit down and talk with a person with an addiction or that has had one before you pass judgment. Try to understand what they go through. Don’t just remain on the outside looking in.
A sports caster can’t efficiently report on a basketball game from outside of the arena. Catch my drift?
How do you feel about this whole situation with Ted Williams?
**All feedback and comments encouraged.**

I got family members in the same situation or were in that situation and it takes a long time for them to finally say enough is enough. It’ll take at least 4-5 rehab trips. I think like a lot of homeless that he may have drug problems as well. It really didn’t help that his life was exposed on national TV for him to maybe go into denial even more. Hopefully, he’ll straighten things out for himself eventually.
Dennis on January 29, 2011
Yea I hope so to. When his life got exposed like that, he wasn’t ready for it. I think he’s on drugs also because alcohol is strong but I don’t see it being that strong. I just hope someone doesn’t go releasing drug tests and other stuff just to get a buck. Its a shame that some will ruin other people’s lives just to get a dollar. Thanks for the comment Dwight

I think this world as we know it is poisoned with cruel and selfish
people and this generation the kids growing up are all thinking money
money and how I can get over someone to get it. I don’t know much
about Ted only that he looked homeless but with a radio voice. I know
their is a purpose for everyone on this planet. Remember that almighty
GOD created us in his own image. I hope and pray that ted has a
relationship with Christ and then everthing else will follow. I pray
for all that don’t know him as lord and savior. Save investing and
alsways praise God and give him the GLORY. Be blessed.
Dennis on January 29, 2011
Yea I agree with you 100% Julio. If he doesn’t have Christ in his life, everything is pointless. He’ll never beat the addiction without strong faith in God and of course a strong will to want to quit. “Faith without works is nothing” is how I believe the bible says it.
I hope and pray that Ted gets some REAL help because he needs it. I know his mom hates to see him going through this because now whats going on in his life is nationally televised. She knows his every move and his wife and children need to develop a strong faith in God and learn to forgive. Thats the only way their family will ever have peace.
And yes our society is messed up terribly. Women having sex and they think because its for money, its okay. Children being disobedient and being raised by the crap that we call music. Corporations controlling our lives without us even knowing. Its a lot to absorb. I just hope and pray everyday trying to remain strong. God bless man and thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it

Hi Dennis,
Good Ol Ted does not want to stop using yet ! He likes getting buzzed more than success. You can not keep him from, convince him not to, or make him stop, what he likes to do. He has a choice to make ! Untill he DECIDES…maybe out of the blue, that he should STOP that…he will continue on until HE makes the decision, NOT to !!! Been there, done that. All of a sudden, one day, working on 3 years ago, I just, at a moment, decided not to ever drink again ! And I will NOT, ever drink again ! Ten men could not force it down my throat !
Long story short ! Do NOT feel sorry for the poor little boy ! He WANTS to do what he is doing !!!
P.S. I drank since I was 19yrs old. I drank because I LIKED to ! I could have stopped at any time, like I did…..I just did not want to !
Thank You, Gary
Dennis on January 29, 2011
You make a valid point where he is not going to stop until HE is ready. I have to disagree about the he’s doing what he likes to do. My dad was a alcholic for nearly 25 years. He told me everything after quiting about how he wanted to stop dearly but he couldn’t.
What Ted did by checking out of rehab is just him crying for help and is part of the healing process. It took me a while to understand this and I probably would never have understood it if my dad wouldn’t have stopped drinking (and after watching so many episodes of intervention)
Its not that Ted Williams likes getting drunk or high. He simply can’t stop because that’s what a very strong addiction (which I believe are demons) is.
I have an addiction of biting my nails. Of course Im wouldn’t get railroaded on national tv because I’m a nail biter but I want to stop and its hard.
We all have some type of addiction whether small or big, good or bad. Like you say, its a choice inside of us to want to stop the bad ones.
I appreciate the comment Gary. God bless
Ps. And congrats on stopping and being able to keep that promise to yourself. Thats a great accomplishment many fail to reach
Gary G. Briggs on January 29, 2011
Hi Dennis,
Many things are hard to do, but that does not stop us from doing them and getting the job done !
Like nail biting.
…you are not an addict to it…you just like doing it !
If we really want to do it, we find a way and with out making excuses.
Remember, unsuccessful people are addicted to making excuses !
Thank’s Dennis !

Dennis on January 29, 2011
Once again I can’t agree with you Gary. I absolutely hate biting my nails but its a habit I try desperately to stop.
Addiction is not something you can just break. It takes an absolute positive mind set, determination, faith in God and a positive environment.
I don’t think you truly had an addiction. You were just a casual drinker. I watched my pops drink from sun up to sun down, at work and during sleep. He was truly an alcoholic. I watched him try to quit many times; even promising me that he wouldn’t do it anymore but failing to realize that he couldn’t do it for me. He had to do it himself.
Reason I feel the way I do is because after he quit, he told me exactly what was going on in his head as far as wanting to drink and trying to stop numerous times. This is something that addicts don’t do because they don’t talk about their addictions except to other people that are doing the same thing and this is for support in the wrong way.
I don’t have an addiction. I just have a habit of biting my nails. An addiction is only a serious life threatening habit. I feel Ted Williams’ pain because I see my father in him somewhat. All I can do is pray for him like I did my father and hope God delivers him from that sickness.

Here at World Spinner we are debating the same thing……

Good Sunday Morning !
God helps them who helps themselves.
God can not help us if we run in the opposite direction from good to bad. We must give him something to work with! We must DECIDE to do it his way…he will not mke us !
One thing we need to do when offering help to ones with what we MAY THINK is addiction, is to identify addicts from manipulators !
Scenario #1. Wife: Larry, You smashed op the only car we have ! Why !… do you drink so much ?
Larry: Oh ! Just because I like to !
Wife: Kicks him in the _ss and tells him to get out of the house and to go live with his bottle.
Scenario #2. Wife: Larry, You smashed up the only car we have ! Why ?… do you drink so much ?
Larry: Oh Honey, I have tried… and tried, but I just can’t seem to stop !(Key words: (Tried/Seem..Horse Sh_t! He just likes it !)
Oh Larry …we have some $$$ in the bank, let’s get you some help !
She has just beem dooped into becoming a master enabler ! He got exactly what he wanted… sympathy, a bleeding heart !
No Dennis, I was not a casual drinker, I drank a, and for 37 years ! And why ? Because I WANTED to !!! Do not be swayed by emotions !
God did not just create people who drink to be intelligent… mankind was all created like that and with Satan’s help have DECIDED to be crafty inorder to get what their heart desires.
Dennis… I am not saying that there are not people who really need help with addiction, and I would be first in line to help them, what I am saying is to learn to identify true addicts and to separate those from master manipulators who find a way to keep on doing what they JUST PLAIN want to do.
I am expressing..Having been their done that !… for 37 yrs.
God Helps Those, Who Help Themselves !
Have a GREAT and SPIRITUAL Sunday, Dennis !
May We All Pray For Wisdom.
Gary

Dennis !
Contrary to the title of this artical…WE are now HELPING Ted !
Do not let those tears fool you…They do not fool Dr. Phil !
I will bey you that if you were to lock Good Ol Ted up for 30 days(or whatever), with only, bread and water, just enough for survival. Get all that junk(that he LIKES)out of his system.
After 30 days, take him his favorite food course and a beer. Turn around and leave and i will bet you that he will drink the beer first
Why ? …because he likes the way it makes him FEEL ! Not that he drinks his problems away, he just likes the FEELING !
No my friend… that is not addiction. That my friend is a lack of character. He WANTS what HE WANTS !
If you saw tears they were because he failed at fooling the people that are not driven by emotions. He was sniffed out !
Success, stardom, celebrity status, is not what is important to Ted. They are only tools to get more of what he likes…the feeling of getting HIGH ! After all, that is what stars do and for them it’s ok ! And with all that money…WOW !{use your imagination)
Tears ? Ted got caught. That’s has got to be a real downer, to think of what might have been.
Don,t try to put him through a system he does not want to go through. It would be EASIER for him to go ask some one for some change !
Thanx, Gary
Dennis on January 30, 2011
Gary I can understand how you would feel like that but the truth of the matter is one of the biggest parts of addiction is denial. “I can stop when I want to” or “I only drink on special occasions”. Just some of the lines I’ve heard.
Whats going on right now is the whole world is judging Ted Williams from the outside rather than with righteous judgement. What do you believe Jesus would do in this situation? Would he do as the world and call him a thief, lier and a failure, or would he try to genuainly help someone that is obviously sick; whether it be physically, emotionally or mentally.
If he is as you say, just playing the world to get what he truly wants, then he’s just going along with what the bible says will happen in these times in 2 Timothy 1-5.
It is still not our place to pass judgement on him. I simply feel that he needs prayer and not a nation of people calling him a bomb and saying he deserves to go back where he is now. Thats not the way God says deal with it and that’s why I feel the way I do.
Hope you understand where I’m coming from..
Thanks
Gary M Briggs on January 30, 2011
Hi Dennis,
Yes I do !
I think that Jesus would:
#1. Commend Him.
#2. Bring to his attention what he needs to work/improve on.
#3. Tell him how to do the latter.
Final: At that point it would be up to Ted to follow in Jesus’ foot steps. You can not make him, or, Free Will, would be senseless !
Gary M Briggs on January 30, 2011
Oh Dennis !
Not every one WANTS to follow in Jesus’ foot steps.
Your heart is in the right place !
Thanx, Gary

Hi All,
I rarely ever post anything on the internet, but I have to say this. I don’t want to say names, lol, but the post that says “God helps those who help themselves” is not exactly true, nor exactly false. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that. In fact, God wants us to come to Him for help. He sometimes allows us to fall on our faces(well, you know what I mean) so that we will go to Him so that we may see His grace and His power. He guides us in our decisions when we ask. And its also true that not ALL people want to follow Him. We do have free will, but if we ask Him for help, He will be there for us. And if we pray for someone else, God will hear us and guide us in helping others. Sorry, didn’t mean to turn this into a different subject. In fact, I can’t believe that I’m even posting this because just not so long ago, I turned my back on God our Father, and still struggling to get back to being where I should be. But I’m starting to see why He let me go down the wrong path…and thats a whole other story..LOL.. I will pray for Ted because I feel it’s my duty to, as well as others. Addictions are exactly that “addictions”. If we could just stop what we’re addicted to, they wouldn’t be called addictions. We need to take care of each other and save the judging for God. (not that anyone was judging on this site, just in general)

I love your approach to Ted Williams. You are right on with every word you said. I’ve never been an addict to much more than books, and Blue Bell Homemade Vanillia Ice Cream [;-)]….but, after working with delinquent kids in a Court System for 33 years I’ll tell the world that LOVE is the only thing that really changes people. Not long ago I went through a seminar on the Development of the Adolescent Brain. One illustration used was to have everyone hold their hand up with widely extended fingers. This illustrated the normal receptors (I don’t remember the medical names),…but, the Instructor then said for us to imagine information coming into the brain as sheets of paper blowing through. Normally the more of these opened fingered(synapses maybe?) elements of the brain would catch the papers (illustrating information input) blowing through like you’ve seen paper caught by fences and tree limbs. But, WHEN STRESSED (because any variety of reasons, including parents fighting, poverty, bullies, any created fear that causes insecurity, and also drug/alcohol useage and abuse….the brain doesn’t retain the information that was input. The Instructor had us made fists to demonstate a protective, shield-producing that the opened fingered-hand would do when stressed,…and said the kids brain-receptors, in effect, did the same thing and stayed in that state. Here’s the key: The ONLY…the ONLY THING that could actually CHANGE those brain dynamics was to make that person feel LOVED,… make them feel SECURE. When that , and ONLY THAT took place with the clenched hand (illustrative of the young person’s inability to be able to retain information) and the hand felt relaxed and secure and loved enough to OPEN BACK UP AND FUNCTION AS NORMAL…did the brain chemistry actually CHANGE back to operating as God intended. (‘Course they didn’t use the word ‘God’,..but I knew that. And, I thought it was so NEAT to see that Christ’s admonition to LOVE —- is, again, obviously the answer to most all the problems to the bad situations we run into in life.) I will love Ted Wiliams by praying for him as you have asked us. And, he CAN change…and, I’m going to believe he WILL change….in God’s time.
Dennis on July 13, 2011
Very well put my man.. Yea that demonstration makes a lot of sense.
I just saw to much hate being spewed around when 90% of the people that were doing the hate were on the outside looking in.
Thanks for that great comment Dave
Dennis on July 13, 2011
God helps those who helps themselves describes it perfectly. Coming to God is a choice we all have. Some of use knowingly choose to go the other way while others just aren’t knowledgeable.
Some people will bypass all the signs of God’s word trying to tug at them and just say that satan is testing them. We really should stop giving satan so much credit. He kinda sorta has this world on autopilot right now. Many people are doing what is fun by their own choice because the ways of God have been made to seem boring and “lame” as this generation calls it.
My dad was an alcoholic for years and until he had to help himself (get a regular job), he couldn’t stop drinking. He tried numerous times to no success. I eventually gave up on him not knowing about the power of prayer.
ONce he realized he had to quite to function, he went into rehab.
The great thing about God is he gives us a choice. If someone ends up burning in the eternal lake of fire. They cant curse anyone but the man in the mirror because they had plenty of time.
Once we want to help ourselves, it’s a long road to repentance and living right but in the end, it’s very worth it.
Desiree on July 26, 2011
There are many roads that lead to the same place. Respecting the individual journeys that are shared here, and without debating, I have, and will continue, to pray for Ted Williams. My heart is burdened to do so. God Bless
